Our Montessori-inspired Spark Studio offers a safe,caring, and warm environment where young children thrive. Its learning areas include: building and design, dramatic play, computers, manipulatives, language, math, science, art, library, and writing. The daily schedule and routines include a balance of indoor and outdoor activity time with plenty of time to play, which we feel is super important to a child’s development. Children are encouraged to think, reason, question, develop ideas, experiment and problem solve, as well as make choices and display independence. Kindness and developing good character is a cornerstone in all we do.

On any given day, you might find Discovery learners doing something like racing their vehicle prototypes as they learn about physics, teamwork, and basic mechanics. Hands-on, meaningful project-based learning is a cornerstone of learning at Acton Academy.
The Discovery Studio is a magical environment where children learn at their own pace using the latest in educational technology for self-paced mastery of reading, writing, and math skills. Learners are surrounded by a close-knit group of peers, as they focus on excelling academically and showing up in the world with kindness.
Our school offers great freedom to learners, and each young person is treated with deep respect because we know how truly capable young people are. Acton Academy is “learner-driven,” which means young people take ownership of their education and peer relationships. The Journey Studio is a nurturing learning environment with a variety of academic offerings, technology, entrepreneurship, physical education, music, art, community service, and leadership opportunities. We believe Middle School is a time to build character, seek independence, and gain an understanding of self and others. Throughout their experiences in the Journey Studio, the learners are supported in navigating the world around them, making new and long-lasting friendships, obtaining new skills, and growing as unique young men and women of character.
As a school, we place great value on preparing our students not only for High School but also for a world beyond school. We believe in the education of the whole person—inside and outside of the studio—and encourage children to develop intellectually as well as into citizens of good character.
All learners engage in experiential learning expeditions we call Quests as well as apprenticeships. Participating in a Quest allows a child to explore a topic in-depth using a variety of hands-on experiences. For example, during our Medical Biology Quest, learners visit the local hospital, connect with medical professionals, and participate in real-world medical simulations, putting them in the shoes of a physician. Quests help children learn about potential careers they might be interested in as well as develop lasting skills such as the ability to work as a team, develop creative solutions, and set and achieve goals.

What Makes the Acton Launchpad/High School different? • Launchpad learners are the center of their own learning experience so that their education is challenging and relevant, preparing them for college or the career adventure of their choice.
• We have gotten rid of traditional subject-based classes and teaching positions. Instead, staff and learners work in a tightly-knit team of ten-fifteen peers. Exploring passion projects while mastering core skills is a common occurrence at Launchpad.
• We are a school community aimed at preparing children for a lifetime of leadership and service. Launchpad instills the importance of giving back to the community by encouraging a generous spirit through philanthropic projects.
• Launchpad learners get ready for real-world success by gaining valuable skills, mastering them through apprenticeships, and launching real startups, businesses, and projects. They will be guided by world-class entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, and heroes in the field they are passionate about.
• Launchpad learners can earn college credit while at Acton Academy as well as complete AP and Honors course work.
• All Acton learners are challenged to develop personal character and virtue that will help them navigate their life using their compass, kindness, hard work, honesty, responsibility, and a deep sense of life purpose.
